My interest in hidden dioramas goes way back. I remember creating my first when I was in high school (out of an old shoe box and some pillow stuffing). But I really engaged with the project seriously during the COVID pandemic. It was at this time, when we were all cooped up, that I really got to thinking about the possible hidden worlds in all the everyday objects that surrounded me. A bag of recycling, a five gallon bucket, a stack of board games were some of the first items to house these dioramas. I’m always really interested in the tension between the exterior and interior with these pieces. As I work more with in this form, I’m interested in exploring larger terrains and its potential for story telling.
